  1. Louis St. Laurent was Canada's twelfth prime minister, from 1948-1957. Prior to his term in office, St. Laurent served in both the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of External Affairs. In 1958 he left politics and Lester B. Pearson was chosen as the new Liberal Party leader. (See St. Laurent in Profiles.)
